Dr. Crystal Maxwell

LIGHT Family Wellness is Indian Land’s first Direct Primary Care (DPC) practice. DPC MAXimizes the patient-doctor relationship by simplifying communication and access with your physician. Text, cell phone, email, and longer visits are used by your physician to provide a more personalized and person-focused primary care experience.

Meet Dr. Crystal Maxwell

Dr. Maxwell has been a resident of Indian Land since 2013. She is motivated to maximizing and guiding your Living In God’s Holy Temple – LIGHT – in order to improve your life as a whole. She completed her Family Medicine Residency at the University of Tennessee in 2010. She served as the Chief Medical Officer of a multi-site community health center in SC from 2012 until 2020 when she decided to take her expertise to providing direct primary care in order to provide a more person-focused relationship with care. Direct primary care allows her more time and accessibility with her patients to handle care needs in a timely manner. Dr. Maxwell spends 30 minutes to an hour with each person to ensure that their concerns are heard and to develop a plan of care that is individualized.

Along with her dedication to wellness, Dr. Maxwell has expanded her practice to offer effective solutions for those struggling with weight loss, hair thinning, or skin concerns. She provides minimally invasive treatment options designed to deliver results with minimal discomfort.

Guiding Wellness

Dr. Maxwell has been a Board-Certified Family Medicine physician since 2010. She was selected as Provider of the Year by the South Carolina Primary Health Care Association in 2015 and was consistently a top-quality performing clinician in areas such as diabetes and hypertension management her entire tenure in her previous employed position. She has extensive experience in preventive care, chronic disease management such as diabetes, hypertension, and obesity, women’s health, and pediatrics. She enjoys providing health education and coaching and serves as the Healthcare Ministry Coordinator of her church.

Dr. Maxwell Co-Authored a book entitled “The Chronicles of Women in White Coats 2” which was released May 2020. Dr. Maxwell was selected as a Top 10 in business leaders under 40 by the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce in 2021. In May 2021, Dr. Maxwell was confirmed a Commissioner of the South Carolina Mental Health Commission. She was awarded special recognition for her service to the Commission in June 2024. She was selected as 1 of 55 women to KNOW in North Carolina Spring 2022 by KNOW Women, LLC

Community Involvement

Dr. Maxwell serves on the Board of Directors for the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce and HOPE in Lancaster. She serves as Ambassador for the Lancaster County Chamber of Commerce. She is an active member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was a Commissioner on the South Carolina Mental Health Commission.
